Skate Newsletter - Feb 2010

As we enter into our final month of the 2009-10 skating season, I would like to thank those who have faithfully came and helped out any way they could, especially the Canskate helpers and their parents. As well, I want to thank everyone for their abundance of patience and consideration for others with the limited space on the ice. Finally, I want to thank Marilyn and Shauna, who have dedicated so much time under stressful circumstances.

We will be having a Ticket Fundraiser this month. With ice fees being increased, we’ve tried to keep registration fees low to allow more children the opportunity to get involved. Parents will be receiving a few books of tickets which they will be responsible to sell for the Club. With everyone selling, the ticket fund raiser should be a huge success. Profits will go into our Club to enable us to purchase more equipment for our programs, coaching and other stuff. Tickets can only be sold after February 8th.

On the bottom is the new Revised Schedule. Because of a competition being scheduled for the week-end of Feb 19, we have to cancel Can Skating on the 19th and change the Ice Show to March 5th instead of February 26th. Otherwise the coach and helpers will not be able to have a practice for it the week before. Our theme for the Ice Show this year is The Olympics. We will be having a meeting soon and will need volunteers to help out with decorating and working the door, etc. We will post the sport each group will be doing very soon. You will be responsible to outfit your child. If possible, we would like each child to have a pair of red Olympic mitts which can be purchased at the Bay. If not, then any red pair will do. Also parents should create a poster with their child’s name on it. It should be decorated with Olympic sports designs.

As well, we will be having another Fun Day for Can skaters on February 12th. The last Halloween Fun Day was a huge success. This fun Day theme will be Valentine’s PJ Party. Hope to see all Can skaters there! Good Luck to all Juniors competing in Truro this month!
